"And the Lord continued, 'See, there is a place by Me where you shall stand on the rock; and while My Glory passes by I will put you in a cleft of the rock, and I will cover you with My Hand.'" (Exodus 33:21, 22, NRSV)
WHEN JEHOVAH covered Moses in the cleft of the rock with His Hand, it was to protect Moses from the brightness of the Glory of His Face. When Paul wrote to the Corinthians, he referred to the Israelites spiritual rock of protection, "and the Rock was Christ."
When we read the Psalmist's song of trust in God as his hope and salvation, we are encouraged to trust in God as our rock.
We have the life of Christ and the fulfillment of the Law of Moses. The Israelites could not have realized they were drinking from the spiritual Rock which was Christ-but we do.
